Peter Collins

Peter Collins knows the Sarasota area well. He was born and raised in Venice, Florida and has practiced law in Sarasota since 1996.

Peter earned his B.A. degree from Xavier University, in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1993. He continued his education at the Catholic University of America Law School in Washington, D.C. Peter participated in Law Review and received his Juris Doctorate, with Honors, in 1996.

Peter decided to return to Sarasota and served as an Assistant State Attorney from 1996 to 2001. During his five years of service he prosecuted thousands of misdemeanor and felony cases. Peter gained invaluable litigation experience trying over 75 jury trials. In 2001 Peter Collins decided to go into private practice representing clients in the areas of Family Law, Criminal Defense and Domestic Violence Injunctions. He has served clients throughout Sarasota, Manatee, DeSoto, and Charlotte counties. With over fifteen years of legal experience, Peter Collins has the experience, knowledge and dedication you need in an attorney. Mr. Collins is admitted to the Florida Bar and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. He is a member of the Sarasota County Bar Association and the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

He also served on the Florida Bar Grievance Committee from 2008 to 2010. He is currently the Chair of the Solo and Small Firm section of the Sarasota County Bar Association.
